Licensing - Staff Training
All Staff must receive mandatory training before they are employed to sell or serve alcohol in licensed premises
All staff require to have undergone a minimum of 2 hours mandatory training before they are permitted to sell or serve alcohol on licensed premises. Failure to do so is an offence and breach of the Premises Licence.
Staff who have undertaken the mandatory training must then sign a Staff Training Record, which is kept on the premises and must be available at all times for inspection by the Licensing Standards Officer. Failure to keep training records or have them so readily available for inspection at all times is a breach of the Premises Licence.
A form of recommended staff training record is available for download and use - Staff Training Record
PERSONAL LICENCE REFRESHER TRAINING
Personal Licences are granted for a period of 10 years, however, licence holders require to undertake a 'Refresher Course' before the expiry of 5years from date of grant. Revocations are mandatory under the Act for failure to comply with the mandatory refresher training and/ or failure to notify the Licensing Board (that granted your licence) of successful completion of the refresher course.
You should be quite clear that notifications of successful completion of the mandatory refresher training should be made to the Licensing Board that granted your licence, not the LSO who is completely independent of the Board and its administration office.
Intimation to East Lothian Licensing Board of completion of Personal Licence Refresher Training - submissions to Licensing, John Muir House, Haddington, East Lothian EH41 3HA
Important - Once you have completed your refresher training you must inform the Licensing Board that granted your Personal Licence of the successful completion of your course.
Refresher courses must be completed within five years of the date of grant of your Personal Licence. Courses undertaken late (outwith the five year period of grant) will lead to revocation of your licence
Submissions are made as follows:
# Complete the notification form - FORM
# Send in your original Personal Licence certificate
# Send a copy of your refresher training certificate.
# There is no fee in respect of this notification.
