General Extensions To Licensing Hours
New Festive Hours Policy
The Licensing Board implemented its new Statement of Licensing Policy on 1st November 2018 and will be reviewed by the end of October 2023. The new policy permits on consumption premises to extend their normal core hours to 2am on the following dates each year:
This extension will only apply to on-sales and not to off-sales of alcohol.
There will be no general extensions beyond this although any applications for extended hours outwith the general extension will be considered on a case-by-case basis. It should be noted that such applications will require to be submitted no later than 1st December each year.
There is no need for licensees to apply for the general extension to 2am. On sales premises can utilise these hours to the extent they considered appropriate.

There were no general extensions granted during 2020 due to the Coronavirus temporary restriction measures.
STATEMENT OF EXTENSION OF LICENSED HOURS - Scottish Golf Championship 2019
In terms of Section 67 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, East Lothian Licensing Board has determined that it is appropriate to grant a general extension of licensed hours for the Scottish Open Championship 2019. This extension will apply from Monday 8th to Sunday 14th July 2019 inclusive and will allow an extension of the terminal hours for the sale of alcohol until 1am.
This extension will only apply to on-sales and not to off-sales of alcohol.
There will be no general extensions beyond this although any applications for extended hours outwith the general extension will be considered on a case-by-case basis. It should be noted that such applications will require to be submitted no later than Monday 1st July 2019.

- 25th December - Christmas Day
- 26th December - Boxing Day
- 31st December - Hogmanay
- 1st January - New Year's Day
